In a Facebook message, Ousman Madikay Faal, Secretary General and Party Leader of the People’s Progressive Party (PPP) underscored the importance of recognizing and honoring the contributions of the party’s elders.
Mr. Faal, who was elected during the PPP’s last congress on December 21, 2024, was accompanied by the party’s spokesperson Waka Jagne, Alhagie Waka Jobe, a member of the Board of Trustees, and the National Youth President, as they paid a courtesy call on Hon. Ba Dembo Jatta -a respected party elder and former minister in the PPP government at his residence in Brikama.
Reflecting on the visit, Mr. Faal described the meeting as a heartfelt opportunity to connect with an esteemed figure who dedicated decades of his life to serving the PPP before his retirement.
He emphasized that the courtesy call was not merely a formality but a genuine effort to foster meaningful relationships and revive the spirit of the party through Hon. Jatta’s prayers and guidance.
“As a party, we stand on the legacy of those who have come before us, and we must honor and cherish their contributions. By creating avenues for their voices to be heard, we can remain true to our fundamental principles and ideals while fostering a sense of community and continuity within our ranks,” he wrote.
Mr. Faal described the meeting with Hon. Jatta as a delightful experience, expressing deep gratitude for the elder statesman’s warm hospitality, invaluable advice, and heartfelt prayers.
He noted that the conversation was enlightening and that the insights gained would significantly influence his leadership decisions moving forward.
“His wisdom has made a lasting impact on me, and I am thankful for the opportunity to learn from someone with such rich experience. I would also like to extend my deepest gratitude to my National Youth President, Mr. Sir Dawda HE Jarju, for his pivotal role in bringing us together for this meaningful occasion,” he stated.
