The Office of the Vice President has confirmed that Vice President Muhammed BS Jallow, alongside the Minister of Health and other cabinet members, visited the victims of the Kafuta accident at the NDemban Clinic in Bakau. 

The visit, conducted on behalf of President Adama Barrow, was aimed at assessing the condition of the injured, providing government support, and offering condolences and solidarity to the bereaved families and the community of Kafuta.

The delegation’s visit followed a tragic incident in Kafuta Village, Kombo East, where three people lost their lives and many others sustained injuries. The visit was intended to express the government’s support for the victims and their families during this difficult time.

After meeting with the accident victims at the clinic, Vice President Jallow and the delegation traveled to Kafuta Village. There, they met with community elders to express the government’s heartfelt condolences and solidarity.

In his remarks, Vice President Jallow conveyed the government’s deep concern over the lives lost, and the injuries sustained in the accident. He emphasized President Barrow’s commitment to the safety and well-being of all Gambians.
“His Excellency, President Adama Barrow, during yesterday’s Cabinet meeting, assigned this delegation to visit the victims and their families. As a government, we are deeply saddened by this tragedy. The loss of any Gambian life is a loss for all of us. We stand with the people of Kafuta at this moment of grief.” He said.  

He also pledged that the government would collaborate with the National Roads Authority to implement preventive measures, such as installing speed bumps, to enhance road safety and minimize future accidents in the area.

In response, the elders of Kafuta and the victims’ families expressed their gratitude to the government for its swift action and for sending a high-level delegation to support them during this challenging time.
