Vice President Touray Hails Passing Of Public Pension Bill 2022

The Vice President, Her Excellency, Dr. Isatou Touray has lauded the passing of the Public Pension Bill 2022 by the lawmakers on 21st February  at the National Assembly in Banjul.

Reacting to the development after the approval of the Bill she tabled at the House, Vice President Touray expressed hope that it would boost the financial status of employees, especially the pensioners and give them a fair retirement package.

 “I believe this will play a positive role in building on the improvement of employees and in particular the pensioners of The Gambia to boost their financial status and fair retirement package,” she said.

Prior to the passing after its third reading, the Sub-Committee on Finance and Public Account Committee (FPAC) and Public Enterprise Committee (PEC) both scrutinized the Bill clause by clause.

Dr Touray also acknowledged the efforts of the Personnel Management Office (PMO) and other relevant institutions in making the legislative approval process a success.

The Vice President added that the Bill is one of the achievements of the President Adama Barrow’s Government in bettering the economic conditions of government employees.

The passed Public Pension Bill now awaits the signature of His Excellency President Adama Barrow to become a Law.
