Lawyer Ousainou Darboe, Secretary General and Party Leader of the United Democratic Party (UDP), has vowed to deliver a robust response to the Minister of Lands, Hamat Bah, during an upcoming rally in Brikama next Saturday.

“I will withhold my response for now. My wife’s long standing service as principal at the Hotel School has been pivotal to its current success. While you boast about a small parcel of land, you attempt to justify the injustices committed. In Brikama, I will present a comprehensive account to the Gambian people. I will remind Hamat Bah that when Maimuna Ndure and Fenda Darboe received their land grants, I was not in the government. Every Gambian has the right to land allocations, and I have never abused my position to secure land for my family,” Darboe stated.

The Ministry of Lands, Regional Government, and Religious Affairs issued a press statement in response to Darboe’s remarks regarding land allocations to President Barrow. Minister Bah alleged that Darboe had himself benefited from land allocations during the Jawara administration. Furthermore, Bah claimed that under Darboe’s tenure as Foreign Minister and Vice President, his immediate family members also received land allocations.
