The United Democratic Party (UDP), led by its Secretary General and Party Leader, Lawyer Ousainou Darboe, has announced plans to embark on a nationwide tour beginning next Thursday, 28th November 2024.
“Our Nationwide Tour begins on the 28 November 2024! We shall go out to address our people physically and on media houses,” Lawyer Ousainou Darboe shared on his official Facebook page.
The tour will kick off in the Lower Niumi Constituency at the village of Samba Kalla, followed by a meeting in the Upper Niumi Constituency at Pakau Njogu. These initial engagements are expected to be courtesy calls, as outlined in the UDP’s tour schedule.
The tour will conclude on 15th December 2024 with a General Meeting in Banjul.
In the 2021 presidential election, President Adama Barrow won 53 percent of the vote, while UDP’s candidate, Lawyer Ousainou Darboe, secured 27.7 percent, according to the Independent Electoral Commission. Currently, President Barrow is conducting his own nationwide “Meet The People” tour, and has expressed his intention to run for a third term. Darboe has not yet commented on whether he will stand for election again or back a younger candidate for the 2026 presidential race.
