The Ministry of Trade, Industry, Regional Integration, and Employment has announced the suspension of the newly introduced Cargo Tracking Note (CTN) scheme until further notice.
“The Ministry of Trade, Industry, Employment and Regional Integration (MOTIE), wishes to inform the public that it has, upon consultation with the Ministry of Finance and management of Global Tracking and Maritime Solutions Limited, suspended the newly introduced Cargo Tracking Note (CTN) scheme until further notice. Businesses are, therefore, encouraged to resume usual operations as MOTIE engages stakeholders in pursuing appropriate strategies for facilitating uninterrupted trade,” the ministry announced through a press release.
A cargo tracking note, also known as a Waiver Certificate, is a shipping document needed when transporting goods to or through Central and Western African countries. The note must be filed before any shipment arrives at the port in order to clear customs.
