Marr Nyang, the Founder and Executive Director of the Gambia Participates, has questioned the government’s decision for involving what he called an Ex NPP-member and a ‘veteran’ politician as commissioners in the government’s newly established commission constituted to investigate the conduct of Local Government Councils and Connected Matters.
Writing on Twitter, Mr. Nyang said investigators in matters of public corruption must be impartial and full of integrity, and he lamented that the addition of an ex NPP member smacks of conflict of interest and impartiality.
“I support investigation of corruption at any level, but Investigators must be impartial & full of integrity. Ex NPP member & a veteran politician as commissioners means there is a conflict of interest, no impartiality! This is not corruption investigation, this is politics!”. He wrote on his Twitter handle on Friday.
