The National People’s Party (NPP) has described the outcome of the Kiang by-election, which it lost to the opposition United Democratic Party (UDP), as a significant step forward in its broader transformation agenda.
In a statement shared with Kerr Fatou, the party highlighted its growing support base in the region.
“We are also encouraged by the fact that our party has significantly increased its share of the vote in this election, a clear sign that more people in Kiang recognize and appreciate the leadership and development-driven agenda of the NPP. This is not a loss but a step forward in our ongoing journey of transformation,” NPP said.
The NPP urged its supporters to remain optimistic, stressing that the party is laying a strong foundation for future success.
“The foundation we are laying today will serve as the bedrock for an even brighter future. President Adama Barrow, as Secretary General of our great party, remains committed to delivering on his promises and ensuring that every Gambian, regardless of political affiliation, benefits from the national development agenda.
“Let us continue to work together in unity and strength. The NPP will always stand for progress, stability, and prosperity for all Gambians. Victory is on the horizon,” they said.
The NPP also expressed deep gratitude to its supporters in Masembeh Ward and across the Kiang region.
“Your commitment and unwavering belief in our party’s vision have not gone unnoticed. While the results of the by-election did not go in our favor, we take great pride in the progress we have made together,” they said.
“Under the leadership of His Excellency President Adama Barrow, NPP said their government remains steadfast in its mission to bring meaningful development to every corner of this country.
“Kiang, once considered neglected, is now experiencing an unprecedented transformation. Over 100 kilometers of new roads are being constructed, electricity is reaching communities that have long been in darkness, and for the first time in history, a state-of-the-art health center stands tall in Jali, named after one of Kiang’s most revered sons, Alkali Nyakudi. These are tangible developments that will continue to uplift lives and foster progress,” NPP said.
