President Adama Barrow has said that the only solution for the hardship the Gambia faces currently is work.
“The only solution to our hardship is to work. Everybody is saying that rice is expensive- food stuffs are expensive. That’s true, but there is a reason behind that. Now it’s very hard to get rice from other countries, because they have closed there gates and are not exporting rice anymore because of hardship. We are trying so hard to import rice from India for two months now, but there is no way out,” he told the meeting.
He made the remarks at a meeting in Ndungu Kebbeh in the Lower Nuimi, North Bank Region at the commencement of his annual “meet the people tour”, which began on Monday (21st November 2022), lasting until 11th December 2022, according to the schedule.
On behalf of the Alkalo of Ndungu Kebbeh Village, Njanko Kebbeh appealed to the President to buy their farm produce at a reasonable price.
Fatou Manneh, on behalf of women of Ndungu Kebbeh, pleaded with the Government to help them with a good healthcare centre, a school, buses and a good road network.
