Monday, November 14th marks two years since Lamin Ndambung Dibba, the Administrative Secretary of the United Democratic Party (UDP) and one time Minister of Agriculture in the transition government of President Adama Barrow, passed away.
To mark the occasion, the leader of United Democratic Party, Honourable Ousainu Darboe, sent out an audio message to his party militants that was shared with this medium. In the audio, Mr. Darboe remembers his demised colleague as a legend in the fight for his country.
“He died for this country. It is true that he was sick, but when I say he died for the country, I am referring to how he suffered for this country. We all know his history, he was jailed for 8 months due to lies against him, he slept in bad places for 8 months due to lies against him, he ate horrible food for 8 months due to lies against him. He did all for his country.
“Lamin Ndambung Dibba was not a slave to anyone, but we have seen how he was tied in chains during our trial. He did all for the Gambia to be free and Alhamdulillah today Gambia is Free. He lost his eye when he was hit by a spoon in prison, and they refused him treatment. Today is the second year since he passed on, and I am appealing to all Gambians and people of goodwill around the world to pray for his peaceful repose,” the UDP leader said.
The late Lamin Ndambung Dibba was the Administrative Secretary of the United Democratic Party (UDP) and one time Minister of Agriculture under President Adama Barrow. He was arrested, tried, and imprison with other executive members of the UDP following their protest to have the body of Solo Sandeng produced dead or alive, He died on the 14th of November 2020 after a long illness.
