ST: The new height in Gambian music

Brikama Boyo commonly call ST Da Gambian Dream who was named Artist of the Year at the 2015 Wa Sah Halat Music Awards, has launched his second album titled Saluto with a bang.

The Brikama born Afro-manding singer has become Gambia’s first artist to have packed the country’s 35-thousand capacity Independence Stadium as fans thronged his second album launch yesterday night.

Hailed as the Gambia’s finest, the album launch is consider the most attended in the history of country’s hip hop and reggae dancehall music.

Some hit songs on the album are ‘Chorrmama’, ‘Mandinka Warrior’, ‘Fuwareya’ and ‘Baddest Localo’, which were produced by Senegalese international music producer, No Face Undacova.

‘Chorrmama’ tackles certain issues in the Gambia like the country’s lack of constant electricity and the failure of politicians in fulfilling promises made to the masses.

‘Fuwareya’ (which means poverty) talks about poverty, low salaries and unemployment of the Gambia’s youth.

ST is considered to be one of Gambia’s few artists whose music appeals to all section of the society and across all socio-cultural divides.

ST launched his first album, Watotijay, on December 10, 2016.
