Gambian artiste Sanna Singhateh fondly referred as ‘ST’ says he feels targeted, after he alleged been denied by the Independence Stadium management to lunch his album at the facility’s main ground.
Speaking in an interview with Kerr Fatou today, the Brikama born says he couldn’t comprehend how foreign artistes are allowed to use the stadium but him been denied.
“The main reason given was that the show may damage the pitch of the stadium. Whereas, the reason may be plausible, ST and his management feel targeted and discriminated against; because other artistes and groups are being allowed to use the venue for similar purposes,” he complains.
“A few weeks ago, the Nigerian artistes, Kiss Daniel, had a concert at the stadium. And this week, other major concert-like events with thousands of people expected to be in attendance have been lined up to take place at the same venue,” Singhateh continues.
Also called ‘Brikama Boyo’, the musician discloses his team suggesting a solution to the worries of the management: “In our case, we have even offered to work together with the Stadium management to put in place safeguards that would ensure the safety and protection of the facilities.”
Meanwhile, earlier today, the artiste’s management in a press release, informed the public of the development. Shortly, the Stadium management countered his team’s statement, denying having any agreement or contract with him on the subject, describing as “fabrication and lies” the statement by the musician’s management.
However, Kerr Fatou is privy to a receipt of advanced payment of D30, 000 issued to the artiste’s team by the stadium management, which the custodians of the facility acknowledged in their response. That puts to doubt their claim of not having any contract with the artiste, having issued him a signed receipt.
Subsequently, a rule for one is for all, if the stadium management actually bans concerts at the main grounds for the preservation of the pitch, the public remains watchful, if the decision will be across board or preferential treatment will apply in the case of others, someday.
