Gambia Afro Manding sensation, Sanna Singhateh (ST, Gambian Dream) launched another tree-planting project dubbed “Trees for Prosperity” initiative.
The “Trees for Prosperity” initiative was launched on September 30th 2021, as part of ST’s birthday celebration.
The artiste joined his ST Foundation that targets to plant a million trees in The Gambia for the next 5 years.
Twelve (12) months down the line after the launch, as activities marking his birthday, ST on Friday joined his foundation to launch the “Trees for Prosperity” initiative at Latrikunda Sabiji School.
“We’ve successfully launched our ‘Trees for Prosperity’ Initiative, a flagship project of the ST Foundation Environment Awards. The event was held today (Friday) at the Latri Kunda School. We’re delighted by the rich and high-profile representation. It was a pleasure to have the company of the likes of Dawda Badjie, Executive Director of National Environment Agency Gambia; Dr Malanding Jaiteh, a world’s renowned environmentalist, and my good brother and friend Mr. Muhammad M. Jagana. We had representatives from ChildFund The Gambia , and our partners at Global Properties (Gambia) Limited,” ST said in a statement on his facebook on Friday.
The Super Star Artiste added: “Trees for Prosperity” seeks to engage students to plant trees as part of the broader one million trees initiative.
He said through this activity, the ST Foundation Environment Awards would mobilise people from diverse professional backgrounds for a tree planting exercise at Latri Kunda Sabiji School.
“I hope this project will add value to our crusade to plant more trees to help mitigate the effects of climate change on our communities. Engaging young people at an early age will help inculcate responsible environment conservationism in them at an early age. We enjoyed the cake from KJ Cupcakes,” he said.
ST said each school chapter would have a coordinator who would be the point of contact for the foundation in the school.
The Brikama-born further stated that the initiative aims to complement the one million trees initiative, and also includes in the students/children the sense of responsible environment conservation awareness in them at an early age.
In his recent interview with the BBC, ST said he is not just to sing and get money; but pledged to plant one million trees to help his country deal with climate change.
