The Vice President, Association of Public and Environmental Health Officers (APEHOG), Musa Nget has confirmed the commencement today of the sit-down strike proposed by his association.

“After our press conference, we had a meeting with the authorities on Monday, but nothing has been done. We have started our sit-down strike today (6th April 2022),” Musa Nget told Kerr Fatou on phone.

The association demands its membership to be included in the new allowance package that the government approved for PhD holders and medical doctors serving the Ministry of Health.

At last Saturday’s press conference, Vice President Nget explained the various steps APEHOG has taken before reaching such a conclusion.

Meanwhile, Brikama Health Centre has confirmed to this medium that the public health officers posted there are not present today.

However, attempts to reach Edward Francis Small Teaching Hospital in Banjul and Farafenni General Hospital proved futile.
