Sinchu Njabo Upper & Senior Secondary School in Sabach Sanjal District Wednesday graduated 53 students at the school.
Thirty-six (36) students completed the Upper Basic level (Grade 9) and seventeen (17) completed the Senior Secondary level (Grade 12) of the 58-year-old school in the North Bank Region.
The ceremony was a moment of pride for students, as their efforts were rewarded for the hard work they did in the course of their studies.
Some graduating students and other well-performing students in G7, 8, 10 and 11 received various categories of prizes.
The prizes awarded at the occasion include, the most disciplined male student, most disciplined female student, most punctual student, most regular student, and best students in the various subjects, etc.
The Principal of the school, Mr. Yusupha Ceesay said the event would serve as motivation for the students to work for better performance; and described it “successful”.
“The event was successful because parents, students, SMC members, the mothers’ club members, a representative of SESA, and other members of the community graced it,” he said.
Speaking to this medium in an interview, Ceesay shared the successes registered by Sinchu Njabo Upper & Senior Secondary School in the 2021/2022 academic year.
“The successes registered for the 2021/2022 include the installation of two smart boards of various subjects in the school initiated by the Science and Technology Directorate of MOBSE and it is the second school selected in the whole region 3. The installation of a T.V set to be used for educational purposes only. This is used by both teachers and students, and registering of good performance by our students in both NAT, GABECE and WASSCE,” he said.
However, the head teacher also highlighted the challenges his school experiences, one of which includes the lack of a proper perimeter fence.
“The school is not secured because it can be entered from all angles. It should be fenced to protect the students and property of the school in order to improve teaching and learning,” Ceesay expressed.
The Principal went on to say other improvements required at his school are improving the solar energy to power the Computer room and the Science lab; equipping the lab so that the school can offer Science, food, and nutrition practical; improving their water source; and collaborating with donors to support their development plans.
Ceesay appreciated the effort by the Sinchu Njabo Ex-students’ Association (SESA) in making the event a success; and urged them to continue supporting the development efforts of the school.
“First of all let me express my appreciation of the effort of SESA to the success of this year’s speech and prize giving day…I urge you to continue to support the development efforts of the school management,” he said.
