President Bassirou Diomaye Faye, the newly inaugurated President of the Republic of Senegal, is poised to make his first state visit to The Gambia on Saturday, April 20th, 2024.
Following his victory in the Senegalese presidential elections with a commanding 54.28% of the vote, President Faye is also anticipated to participate in the upcoming Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) summit scheduled for May 4th, 2024, in The Gambia.
At the age of 44, President Faye made history as Senegal’s youngest head of state, clinching a significant mandate from the electorate with his resounding victory of 54.28% of the votes. His nearest competitor, Amadou Ba, garnered 35.79% of the votes, securing the second position in the election race.
