Senegalese and Liverpool superstar Sadio Mane hopes for Gambia and Senegal to meet in the finals of the 2022 Africa Cup of Nations due in Cameroon.
However, the star player jokingly predicted victory for his side in footage obtained by this medium.
“I was in the Gym when Gambia was playing against Angola. I was monitoring my phone every time to see the results until the end. Then I said congratulations and I put it on my Facebook because I was really happy for Gambia,” he recalled the moment.
“At the same time I was more happy for the population than the players because I was in Gambia. I know how they suffered behind their team. Again, I want to say good luck for the Scorpions and hopefully Gambia will play the final against Senegal, but Senegal 1- 0 Gambia,” Mane predicted with a smile.
At the same event, the superstar also promised the SJaG executive that he would visit the Gambia.
The Liverpool star made these remarks at his home village in Bambali when the Sports Journalists Association of the Gambia visited him on Monday.
The Sports Journalists Association of The Gambia are preparing for their 11th edition of Sports Awards, as in previous editions, it’s meant to honour and celebrate past and present sports personalities.
According to SJAG, the event would take place on 3rd July 2021 at the iconic Sir Dawda Kairaba Jawara International Conference Centre.
