The former Barcelona, Chelsea and Inter Milan legend Samuel Eto’o was earlier today elected as the new President of Cameroon Football Federation. 40-year old Eto’o takes over the Presidency after beating incumbent Seidou Mbombo Njoya by 43 votes to 31.
Eto’o has campaigned on better player welfare for Cameroonian footballers home and abroad and promised to return the nation to its indomitable status once more.
“PRESIDENT OF FECAFOOT I’ll be remembering today as one of the proudest moments of my life. I’m deeply grateful for to be elected as the new president of Fecafoot. Every single vote represents the energy and ambition of our football family to take our beloved sport to a level we’ve never seen before. Let’s get to work,” Eto’o wrote on his official Facebook page.
Samuel Eto’o, Flis, born 10 March 1981, is a Cameroonian retired professional footballer who played as a striker. In his prime, Eto’o was regarded by pundits as one of the best strikers in the world, and he is regarded as one of the greatest African players of all time, winning the African Player of the Year a record four times: in 2003, 2004, 2005, and 2010.
