A prominent supporter of APRC insisted that former president Yahya Jammeh told him to go to the Central River Region [CRR] with Cola-nuts to solve their problems.
“If the interim party Leader is watching problems that are happening in CRR, there is a mother of the party who lives in CRR, there is a chairman of the region from APRC; why can’t he just find out now or take the phone and find out what is the problem of his members.
“If you don’t do that, you don’t show work by example then you are creating problems. Even Amie Jarju sent a message to Fabakary to solve the problem; but he didn’t reply. The problem is they were dining and winning with NPP and they don’t want the problem to be solved. This is true, as true can be [Talking to Jammeh]. I don’t have any reasons to sit down and just be happy and say I talked to Jammeh and bought a whole bag of Cola-nuts just to go around the eleven Constituencies in CRR just to make a name for myself. It was Jammeh who asked me to go to CRR and solve the problems,” Pa Modou Mbowe insisted.
However, the Alliance for Patriotic Reorientation and Construction (APRC) through its first Deputy Leader, Ousman Rambo Jatta has recently dismissed the claim that Former President Yahya Jammeh has spoken to some of their supporters opposing their proposed alliance with the National People’s Party.
“I wish to make it very clear to all Gambians and non-Gambians in the country and abroad that the statement trending in certain Gambian newspapers as well as in social media that the former president Yahya Jammeh disagrees with the ongoing talks of a possible APRC-NPP coalition for the December 2021 presidential election is completely false.
“The former president Yahya Jammeh has never spoken to anyone or given any directive to anybody including Pa Modou Mbowe to dissuade members of the APRC party from forming a coalition with any party,” Ousman Rambo Jatta said in a statement.
The APRC confirmed that they are in talks with President Barrow’s NPP, and some of the key demands they put forward in the negotiations are the return of their assets and the former president himself, among others. Subsequently, rumours have emerged that APRC and NPP have come to terms as a result, but Pa Modou Mbowe a prominent supporter of APRC refuted the comments of the APRC executive; saying he has spoken to former president Yahya Jammeh who he told him that he is not in support of the coalition.
