President Adama Barrow’s political adviser Saihou Mballow has said that the president will not apologise to Lawyer Ousainou Darboe and no one will intimidate the president or his party.
“Where were the so-called human rights activists when Ousainou Darboe stated that he would render the government ungovernable? They hear people insulting the president’s parents every day, yet they remain silent about it. We should not undermine our democracy. The president did not say he would kill Ousainou Darboe or any other opposition member. What he pointed out was that Darboe promised to take his land if he became president. The president also mentioned that he would remain in office until Darboe dies,” Mballow said.
President Barrow’s political adviser said If the president’s statement is the only issue, then there is no political problem in the country;
“President Barrow will never apologize regarding this matter; it is not a threat and has no connection to human rights. Those who are speaking out are simply opposing the president. Even in his everyday actions, such as eating or driving, they criticize him, suggesting he should walk to Mankamang Kunda. No one will intimidate the president or the NPP, and we will not accept that. In every election, Barrow provides full security to Darboe and all other opposition leaders. Would he do that if he truly intended harm? All this condemnation is unnecessary, unwarranted, biased, and unfair to the Gambian people and to the president, and we will not accept it,” he told Teranga FM on Monday.
During the opening of his party’s regional bureau in Brikama, President Adama Barrow said he would only leave power when he witnessed the burial of opposition leader Lawyer Ousainou Darboe.
