President Adama Barrow addressed journalists after the Mayoral and Chairmanship elections, saying that there is no loser in the elections because all the candidates are Gambians who want to develop the country. He emphasized that the elections were a success, and that Gambians should be proud of their democracy. He also urged all Gambians to work together to build a better future for their country.
“So, I think all of us are winners in this. But one piece of advice is I think we should now come together, forget the difference, forget about the parties, come together and work for this country. If you win it is because of the trust and the trust is people want you to contribute, work for them and change their lives. The people want you to impact their lives. I think that is the main purpose of the elections, which is why people are elected to office,” he said.
President Barrow said that it is his duty as head of state to ensure that peace and stability are maintained.
“But I cannot do it alone. So, I am calling on all Gambians to come and join me so that we work together and develop this country,” he said.President Adama Barrow has said that Gambia’s democracy is on the move, and that the country is building a strong foundation for democracy. He said that all the elections have been peaceful, from the nomination process to the final results. This is why he believes that Gambia’s democracy is moving forward.
“I think Africans can now use the Gambia as a sample that our democracy is maturing, but there is still room for improvement in our democracy. We all learn from our mistakes moving forward. But I think overall I am very happy with the entire process and thank all the Gambia people,” Barrow said.
