President Adama Barrow, during his Meet the People tour in Latrikunda Sabiji with residents of Bundung, Serrekunda, and Latrikunda constituencies, assured the public of continued road development in the Kanifing Municipality (KM) and the West Coast Region. He announced plans for a new project to construct 50 kilometers of roads within the Greater Banjul Area to improve transportation.
“We have another project to construct a 50-kilometer road across KM and the West Coast. We will carefully select strategic roads for this project, just as we did with the previous 50 kilometers. To those requesting road improvements, don’t worry—I have you in mind. You may feel we haven’t reached your area yet, but we will. This project is for everyone,” he said.
President Barrow emphasized his commitment to national development and urged Gambians to support his agenda.
“My sole aim is to work for the country’s progress, but I can’t do it alone. We need a collective effort. When the country prospers, it benefits us all. The roads I’m building may not serve me directly, but they serve those who use them daily, and that’s the essence of development,” he stated.
He highlighted ongoing nationwide projects, noting the challenges of executing them all simultaneously.
“We are constructing roads from Kartong to Koina. My goal is to bring electricity and roads to every corner of the country. Every day, I pray for the resources to achieve this. For instance, I passed through Bundung today and saw that the road construction is progressing. The Latrikunda road I arrived on is also part of this initiative, as well as the OIC project. From Wellingara to Nema Junction and Sukuta—these are all included,” he said.
President Barrow’s remarks reflect his vision of inclusive infrastructure development to enhance the lives of Gambians across the country.
