During a ceremony on Tuesday, President Adama Barrow expressed confidence that the country would garner positive attention over the next three years as the host of the OIC summit. He emphasized the significance of logistics, citing the handover of 87 luxury vehicles as crucial for the summit’s success.

“Accomodation, no accomodation no OIC, no vehicles no OIC. So these were very very important. We are able to succeed in getting all these things in place, and I think that’s the most important thing. These are summits that can be lifetime for a small country. So this is a big opportunity for all of us and we are going to host for the next three years. I think for the next three years Gambia will be the headline for very good reasons. We will be very positive going forward. So we want everybody to be United so that we support each other to make sure we chair for three years and not chairing alone but it will be a good legacy for all of us,” President Barrow said.

The handover ceremony, which occurred on Tuesday, April 30, 2024, saw President Barrow personally receiving the vehicles, and the President also underscored the importance of transportation infrastructure in facilitating the smooth conduct of the summit.
