President Barrow Embarks On Cleansing Exercise In Banjul

President Adama Barrow earlier  Saturday embarked on a cleansing exercise (Set Settal) dubbed “Operation Clean Banjul”.

The National People’s Party (NPP)  Executive members, supporters and other stakeholders took part in the event.

Speaking at the event, President Adama Barrow said his government has invested millions of Dollars to rehabilitate roads, sewage and drainage system in Banjul, to reclaim its former glory .

 “The rehabilitation project has greatly reduced flooding and facelift Banjul in terms of access and cleanliness. That is why we deem it necessary to clean the city,” he said.

He stressed the importance of having a clean environment.

“We don’t want our environment to be polluted. That’s why we came together to clean up our environment and encouraged every concerned citizens to do the same ,” he added.

Seedy S.K. Njie, deputy spokesperson of the National People’s Party said “a clean environment is part of life and that is the reason we came together to help clean Banjul for a healthy life”.

Njie urged the youth to come together and continue their efforts on national  development.

Dr Ahmadou Lamin Samateh, Minister of Health said cleansing the city is “very”  important because a clean environment enhances a healthy life.
