President Barrow Declares Eid-ul Fitr Public Holidays

State House, Banjul, 19th April 2023: As Muslims around the world look forward to the end of the Holy Month of Ramadan, His Excellency President Adama Barrow is pleased to declare public holidays marking Eid-ul-Fitr, locally known as Koriteh.  

If the moon is sighted on Thursday, 20^th April 2023, then Friday, 21^st April 2023 and Saturday, 22^nd April 2023, will be Public Holidays. However, if the moon is sighted on Friday, then approval for Saturday, 22^nd April 2023 and Monday, 24^thApril 2023, shall be Public Holidays.  

Eid is a moment of worship and an opportunity to spend more time with friends and families. Therefore, on behalf of the First Family, the President wishes all Muslims a happy and blessed celebration.
