The People’s Progressive Party (PPP), the oldest political party in The Gambia, held its elective congress on December 21, 2024, in Banjul. The congress marked a historic turning point as the party elected Ousman Madikay Faal as its new leader, succeeding Kebba Jallow.
In a groundbreaking development, Mr. Faal emerged victorious, making him the first individual to unseat an incumbent within the PPP. This achievement highlights the party’s commitment to democratic processes and its ability to hold leaders accountable.
Kebba Nanko, speaking to Kerr Fatou, expressed his contentment with the party’s progress and emphasized the importance of unity moving forward. He stressed the need to focus on restructuring the party’s organizational framework to ensure a strong future. “The PPP aims to continue its legacy of making history in The Gambian political landscape,” Nanko remarked.
