A popular radio-journalist and Taranga FM manager, Modou Lamin Joof has been conferred “The Personality of The Year” award by Baxi Bombong Couture, Tanaga FM reported.
The award conferred on Joof by Baxi Bombong Couture (a Gambian organization) aims to promote and celebrate outstanding personalities in various fields and professions, annually.
He received the prestigious award at a ceremony held at The Gambia Press Union (GPU) secretariat in Fajara on Monday.
“I dedicated this award to the staff of Taranga FM for their immense support. Such a recognition can’t be achieved without the team work of my colleagues,” the soft-spoken man is quoted as saying by Taranga FM, shortly after receiving the award.
The famous Taranga radio sent Mr Joof, its sincere congratulations for the achievement.
Previous recipients of the award are Momodou Toro Darboe of Vision Development Foundation (VDF) and musician ST Brikama Boyo for their exemplary contribution to national development, the local FM added.
Modou Lamin Joof began his journalism career in 2010 and later went on to obtain a Diploma in journalism and communication at a leading journalism-training provider, Media Academy for Journalism and Communication (MAJaC).
Currently, he co-hosts ‘Xew Xew’, a current affairs show on a local television station, QTV.
