The Gambia Police Force have confirmed arresting three people for “stealing properties of other individuals” at the high court yesterday in Banjul. The police however commended the public for the ”decorum, civility and restraint” during the proceedings of the Bob Keita trial yesterday. Below is the entire statement.
MESSAGE OF COMMENDATION
We commend the public, particularly those who were at Banjul High Court yesterday for the decorum, civility and restraint exercised during proceedings of the Bubacarr Keita vs the State case yesterday.
We equally commend our gallant commanders and officers for ensuring a successful operation without any major incident.
The cooperation shown between our officers and the public yesterday was remarkable and worth commendations.
Group leaders not only ensured their members were civil and calm but also were supportive to the officers in policing unscrupulous individuals among the crowd.
Three persons were arrested for stealing properties belonging to other individuals. They are currently helping the police in their investigations.
Victims of theft are encouraged to report and follow up with the police as some properties have been recovered.
We continue to reassure the public that the GPF shall ensure security is delivered to all with utmost professionalism and respect for human rights.
Members of the public are encouraged to continue supporting, collaborating and partnering with the police.
