The Deputy Public Relations Officer of The Gambia Police Force, C/ASP Muhammed Y. Darboe has confirmed that the police have launched an investigation into an alleged murder case involving a young lady in Brikama and have since arrested her boyfriend to help with their investigations.
“There is an Alleged murder incident that happened in Brikama involving a 24year old native of Brikama Nema. Already we have a suspect who is arrested, cautioned, detained and helping the police with their investigation,” C/ASP Muhammed Y Darboe told Kerr Fatou on Tuesday.
However, he cautioned that their preliminary investigations have shown no evidence of murder in the case;
“We have done some preliminary investigation examination but we didn’t see any evidence of murder in the case. There was a Doctor or Nurse who did an investigation but he didn’t find any major or minor brushes or any physical injury on the body of the deceased. However, we have taken the body to the mortuary for postmortem examination.
“The lady is a 22 years old businesswoman from Brikama. At the time that the suspect took the deceased to the hospital, she had already fainted. The suspect was dating the girl (the deceased). He took her to the hospital and the girl arrived at the hospital alive but later lost breathing and died according to the narration. We are investigating more on the matter to know the outcome,” he concluded.
In another development, Deputy Public Relations Officer of The Gambia Police Force, C/ASP Muhammed Y. Darboe also confirmed the arrest of a Nigerian National, reported to be the publisher of Today’s News Daily.
