Pa Madou Mbowe, previously the spokesperson for the APRC non-alliance faction, explains that his resignation holds no significant weight; rather, it serves to provide an opportunity for the youth within his party.
“I have resigned as the spokesperson of my party, but my resignation is nothing but to give a chance to young ones. Because to be honest, even people who don’t know me have heard of my name in the political arena, and when you get to a point, you have to pave a way for the young people to take off and continue. In anything you see, there must be a continuation; nobody can do it all because nobody knows all,” he said.
Mr. Mbowe said that he is resigning to give the upcoming generation a chance, just as he was given a chance at their age. He also announced that he was taking a break from politics.
“Is not that I am under pressure from my family members from the party or anywhere else, but me myself, I need time for myself because I have a hard time in my adulthood that I gave to politics, which I need to retain back. What will come next? To be honest, I don’t know what will come next. “It is only God who knows, but for now I am bowing down from politics,” he said.
He also said that he has not yet heard back from his party or from former president Yahya Jammeh, who is the supreme leader of the APRC’s “No To Alliance” faction.
“Maybe he will like it, maybe he will like it, or maybe he will understand my reasons, but whatever the reason, I have done it with a good heart, and I don’t have any problem with anyone in the party; I am the one who needs time for myself,” he said.
Pa Modou Mbowe made these remarks while speaking to Star FM radio on Wednesday.
