The Brikama Magistrate Court has sentenced Ousainou Touray to 10 years in prison for burglary and theft after he pleaded guilty to both charges.
Touray appeared before the court on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, where the Police Prosecution Unit charged him with two counts: breaking into a building with intent to commit a felony and stealing.
The court handed down the following sentences:
Count 1: Breaking into a building with intent to commit a felony—5 years imprisonment.
Count 2: Stealing: 3 years imprisonment.
In addition to the prison term, Touray was ordered to pay D28,000 in compensation to the complainant. Failure to pay will result in an additional 2-year jail term.
The sentences are to run consecutively, bringing the total prison term to 10 years.
