Hon. Omar Ceesay, former Member of Parliament (MP) for Niamina East earlier Saturday expressed his dismay with the performance of his successor, Hon. Dawda Jeng, currently MP for the constituency.

Ceesay said his message is not meant to disrespect the current MP’s office or express grudges against him, but an expression of his dismay.

“To begin with, the electorates of Niamina East had elected you over other candidates, including myself with the expectation to be their watchdog and mouthpiece in the National Assembly, but to no avail so far,” he said on Facebook.

The former GDC MP alleged that Hon. Jeng has never requested the floor of the house to speak on any business before the house since he assumed duties.

“The record speaks for itself. This is disappointing and unacceptable,” he stressed.

He added that that puts the question, of how long his successor wishes to remain mute in the house as if the electorates of Niamina East are totally satisfied with the manner this country is being administered under Barrow’s leadership.

“With the high level of corruption, crime rates, unemployment, poor infrastructure, skyrocketing prices for basic commodities, and the death of 69 (sic) children, and you still have nothing to submit before the floor of the house; while your electorates are suffering from all these mentioned. Hon. Jeng, frankly, are you representing the President, yourself, or your voters?” he asked.

Ceesay said Parliament would hold an extraordinary session on Wednesday over the death of 70 or more children due to “negligence” and encouraged Jeng to speak up because the whole world is concerned.

This medium contacted Hon. Dawda Jeng for his side of the story, but he couldn’t be reached, but his response would be published, if obtained.
