The Chief Executive Officer of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Gambia Secretariat has expressed his institution’s commitment to accomplishing its mandate.

“The OIC Gambia Secretariat remains focused, committed, and on track to accomplishing the goals and objectives of our mandate. If everything had gone as planned, we would have by now gone quite far with the implementation of our projects as well as with the preparations for the Summit. However, we experienced some delays caused mainly by COVID-19, and to some extent, bureaucratic red tapes, reminiscent of such huge projects. As you may be aware, we are obligated by law to follow our national procurement guidelines as well as donor financing regulations, which requires approvals through every major milestone,” Yankuba Dibba informed.

The OIC Gambia CEO added that the coming of the OIC to The Gambia would be meaningless if it cannot be linked to the welfare, wellbeing, and progress of the majority of the people in this country; thus, the Secretariat is continuously seeking meaningful partnerships to ensure they leave an enduring legacy in every aspect of Gambian lives.

“As far as the OIC Gambia Secretariat is concerned, our greatest motivation to carry on and deliver on our priority projects comes from knowing that the OIC projects will make life a lot better for everyone in The Gambia; and that our projects also have the potential to significantly transform and impact positively on the development trajectories of this country,” he said.

The CEO of the OIC Gambia Secretariat made these remarks on Wednesday at the laying of the foundation stone of the 50KM OIC Gambia urban-roads project in Brufut.
