During the inauguration, the German Ambassador to The Gambia expressed his satisfaction with the project, highlighting its transformative potential for the women of Boraba Village.

“I am so proud to be here today with the prospect field being ready to be cultivated, it is wonderful. It’s about a year ago that Bente came to my office and proposed her project, we had many questions of course, would it be a good investment, she had some donations, but they couldn’t pay for the Borehole so after all this question were shouted out by Bente’s project, then it took a lot of paperwork, but finally the garden was built, the borehole was drill, the installation was made, and now you are ready to cultivate and this will change your life and the village,” He Said.

Bente Stachowske, the Chairwoman of the Nyodeema Foundation in Germany, emphasized the long-term benefits of the garden, noting its contribution to food security, income generation, and employment. “A year ago, this piece of land was empty, just an open space. Today, we stand here together in a place of growth, unity and empowerment, together we have created a community garden, a place that means economic independence, food security and food sovereignty for the women of Boraba Community as a whole,” she said.

Ajaratou Sarjo Saidy, President of the Boraba Women’s Garden, expressed deep gratitude to the German Embassy and the Nyodeema Foundation for their support. “We are incredibly excited about this garden. It will play a significant role in our lives. A big thank you to Bente, her husband, and the German Embassy for their generous support,” she said.
