Honourable Alagie S. Darboe, chairperson of the Finance and Public Account Committee (FPAC) gave the National Environment Agency (NEA) until 8th August 2022 to submit its financial reports.
The development followed a request by Dawada Badjie, Executive Director of the agency to be given more to time complete the reports.
“We are facing some challenges that is why we can’t still complete our financial reports. But we are appealing from the chairman of the committee to give us at last one month to complete everything and submit it before this August committee,” he said.
He added that at the moment, their Finance Director is on maternal leave and they need some answers from her to complete the reports.
Meanwhile, an official of external audit, Abdou Joof said they couldn’t complete their audit at the agency because they still have pending issues from NEA.
Jainaba Jallow, Gambia Public Procurement Authority (GPPA) said they have audited the procurement transaction of NEA and generated a draft report, which was sent to them since February 2022; but GPPA is yet to receive any responses from NEA management.
“We are waiting for their management response, before we can finalise our compliance review reports for 2019 and 2020,” she said.
