Kanifing Municipality Mayor has assured residents that Kanifing Municipal Council would do its best to mitigate and prevent future natural disasters in the municipality.
“Mayor Bensouda takes this opportunity to assure all residents that KMC will continue to do all in its ability best to help in mitigating and preventing the escalation of future natural disasters,” Talib Ahmed Bensouda said in a statement.
He also showed his sympathy and solidarity for the victims within the municipality; after the Council learnt about the destructive effects of last night’s rains and violent storms that have affected many in the municipality and beyond, according to the statement.
The council has deployed its workers with equipment to clean up strategic areas occupied by fallen trees and debris in the municipality, it added.
“KMC’s Department of Services has dispatched its field workers and open trucks to clear fallen trees and debris in strategic areas throughout the municipality.
We continue to count on the genuine cooperation and partnership of the general public,” the statement added.
KM Mayor’s reaction followed the Wednesday night windstorm that claimed lives and property of many families and individuals in Kanifing Municipality and other parts of the country.
The natural disaster has also disrupted electricity, water, and other services in the Greater Banjul Area.
