Abubacarr Suleiman Jeng, the National Security Adviser of The Gambia, reaffirms the government’s unwavering commitment to the Security Sector Reform (SSR) process. He emphasizes that the government will continue to showcase political determination and leadership in this vital initiative.
“The Gambia Government remains committed to the SSR process and will continue to demonstrate political will and leadership and correspondingly, inclusivity is cardinal, and the Office of National Security mandated to lead the SSR process will continue to endeavour collaboration and partnership with the citizens of which Civil Society Organizations could play a vital role as important stakeholders,” He said.
Expressing gratitude, Mr. Jeng acknowledges the crucial support of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) throughout the SSR process. “I would like to convey my sincere appreciation to ECOWAS for their support and being an important valued and reliable partner to the Government of The Gambia since the introduction of the SSR process and remaining steadfast with us in our journey to reform and restructure the security sector in The Gambia,” He said.
Mr. Jeng conveyed these sentiments during a workshop organized by the Office of National Security in collaboration with ECOWAS. The workshop focused on security sector reform and governance in The Gambia, emphasizing the engagement of the Office of National Security with Civil Society Organizations.
