The Gambia Volleyball Federation (GVBF) said the country’s Beach Volleyball Teams (men & women) of the Gambia will return home tomorrow (Wednesday) at 6pm.
This followed the recent victory of the men in the Commonwealth Games Beach Volleyball Africa qualifiers just concluded in the Ghanaian capital, Accra.
The team were crowned African Champions on Monday afternoon, after beating South Africa 2-0 in the finals of the Commonwealth Games Beach Volleyball qualifiers.
“The Gambia men beach volleyball team and the rest of the delegation will arrive in Banjul onboard Asky on Wednesday at 6pm. The team is expected to be received by the Hon. Minister of Youth and Sport, executive members of GNOC, NSC and executive members of GVBF.
“The general public and the media are hereby invited for the welcoming of our gallant men at the Banjul international airport. From the airport, the team will be escorted to Olympafrica Center where the authorities will address,” GVBF said in a statemen Today.
As African champions, the men’s team gained qualification to represent Africa at the Commonwealth Games Beach Volleyball to be held later this year in Birmingham, United Kingdom.
However, despite their hard work, the women’s team could not triumph at the games as their men counterparts.
