The Scorpions and Bologna FC forward, Musa Barrow has wheeled the Gambia to a fairy tale quarter-final.
The Scorpions of the Gambia defeated the Sylli National of Guinea Conakry 1-0 to qualify for the quarterfinal of the ongoing 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON 2021) in Cameroon.
The scorpions’ Musa Barrow scored the only goal in the 71st minute of the game to secure a very important win for Gambia.
There was a late drama in the game as both teams received a red card. Yusupha Njie, a second-half substitute for the Scorpions was sent off in the 87th minute of the game, following a second yellow card. Before Guinean defender, Ibrahima Conte was also sent off, in a similar manner, in the 93rd minute of the game.
The game ended 1-0 in favour of the Scorpions of the Gambia who advanced to the quarterfinal of the competition.
The Scorpions will now play against the host nation, the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon in the quarterfinal on Saturday (29th January 2022) at 16:00 GMT.
