Murder Suspect Apprehended

The 85-year-old Nfally Keita of Tanji, allegedly stabbed to death by his biological son, Saajuma Keita

The Gambia Police Force (GPF) have announced the arrest of one Saajuna Keita who allegedly stabbed and killed his biological father in Tanji.

“Saajuma Keita, 30 year old native of Tanji who allegedly stabbed his own father to death and absconded to Senegal has been arrested and is currently held in custody of the Gambia Police Force.The suspect, who managed to evade police arrest and ran to Senegal was arrested with the help and cooperation of Senegalese security services,” the police announced in a statement on Facebook Sunday evening.

It could be recalled that Tujereng police mounted an investigation after registering the alleged murder reported by family members of the deceased in Tanji.

The 85-year-old Nfally Keita of Tanji, was allegedly stabbed to death by his biological son, Saajuma Keita. 

Upon allegedly committing the crime, the accused absconded to Senegal, where he was in hiding, prior to his arrest.

“Following a meticulous probe into the matter by GPF detectives, his whereabout was traced in a particular settlement in Dakar, Senegal. Through the existing bi-lateral security cooperation between the Gambia and Senegal, intelligence was shared for assistance that led to the subsequent arrest of the fugitive. He has been cautioned and charged with murder, now awaiting arraignment before court,” the statement added.
