Mod K. Ceesay, Chief of Staff at the Office of the President, said that President Adama Barrow supports a two-term limit for presidents, but that the final decision of whether to run for re-election in 2026 is up to the president.

“President Barrow believe in two-term limit and yes by 2026 he would have served a two term and whether or not he will stand in 2026 that is his decision and he had already made that known anyway to say he’s participating in the 2026 presidential election but this also not consistent with what he believe. He believe that if the constitution sets a two-term limit he would but if equally why don’t we also asked others if it is about the question of two-term and two-term limit, if the two-term is equally interms of moral principle is equally good for individuals at party level and at national level why is others also choosing to stay and run beyond two-term”? Mr. Ceesay asked while speaking to For The People By The People Show on Sunday.

President Adama Barrow is currently serving his second term in office after winning the 2021 presidential election. He has announced his intentions to contest in the upcoming presidential election slated for 2026.
