The Ministry of Health on Friday received 7 motorbikes from the World Bank meant to ease their movement during the ongoing Covid-19 campaign.
Speaking at the presentation, Lamin Dampha, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Health said the vaccination rate in the Gambia is still low and the ministry wants to vaccinate a larger number of the population; thus, they wrote to the World Bank to help them with mobility.
He expressed thanks to the donor for the donation that would ease their movement in the vaccination campaign, and said with the motorbikes, they will reach their target of vaccinating at least 70% of the population.
Sainabou Seye, representative, World Bank assured that her institution would continue to work with the ministry in all ways to boost the health system of the Gambia.
Modou Njai, Director of Health Promotion and Education, Ministry of Health stated how useful the donated bikes would be to his ministry.
“In order to do our work, we need operating tools and this is one of them. So, receiving this will help us to access the areas that we want to go to,” he said.
