Ebrima Drammeh, a migration activist, has confirmed the tragic deaths of 69 Gambians in a boat that was discovered by Senegalese fishermen on Sunday afternoon.

Earlier this month, Kerr Fatou reported that two boats carrying over two hundred Gambians had been missing at sea for 28 days. One of these boats, which had 69 Gambians on board, has now been found by Senegalese fishermen. Unfortunately, no survivors were found.

“An update about the migrant boat that was found yesterday evening by the Senegalese fishermen with thirty dead bodies in the boat, is the same boat we were looking for more than a month ago that departed from Mbour on the 12 to 13 August, and we understand that more than 150 people are in the boat and more than 69 Gambian migrants are in this boat. Our condolences to their family. May Allah have mercy on their souls, amen. Source: Gilbert Jassey a migrant activist in Spain,” Migration Activist Ebrima Drammeh said.

Reports indicate that the boat carried 23 female Gambians and 44 male Gambians, including minors.
