Mbemba Drammeh Joins the United Democratic Party

Mbemba Drammeh, a former staunch supporter of the National People’s Party (NPP), has officially joined the United Democratic Party (UDP), effective Friday, January 31, 2025.

In a statement shared with this media outlet, Drammeh revealed that his decision followed extensive consultations with key UDP members, including the party’s National Youth President.“The purpose of writing this letter is to inform you about my decision to join the United Democratic Party effective today, Friday, 31st January 2025. After having long discussions with many UDP members, including the National Youth President. The decision is influenced by UDP’s progressive policies and programs, which, if elected in government, can change lives and livelihoods,” he wrote. 

He further emphasized that UDP’s commitment to building a better Gambia and its respect for human rights, as reflected in the party’s national development policies, serve as a powerful motivation for all citizens, both at home and in the diaspora, to lend their support.

Mr. Drammeh expressed his desire to contribute to the party’s success and to play a role in advancing the well-being of The Gambia.
