Mayor Talib Ahmed Bensouda and his team have raised a total of two hundred and eighty-five thousand dalasi (D285,000) for the release of Young Gambian Artiste Myk Jayda who is currently in jail
Myk Jayda, a young Gambian artiste, has been in jail for the past few months for allegedly spending over D500,000 of his ex-girlfriend, Binta Jaiteh’s, money, and failing to refund it.
On Thursday, Mayor Talib Ahmed Bensouda and a group of prominent Gambian citizens, including Nenneh Freda Gomez, MC Cham Jr, Lamin Tigo Sey, Mamie Sira, and Baye Kebba, held a fundraising event to raise money for the release of a young artist.
Mayor Talib Ahmed Bensouda led the way, pledging his support for the young artist. Other notable figures who pledged to help include musicians ST, Jizzle, Nyancho, Attack, Awa Gambia, and Haddy Faye. Journalists Fatou Touray of Kerr Fatou and Fatou Camara of The Fatu Network also pledged their support. The National Assembly Member for Banjul South Constituency, Touma Njie, also pledged to help.
Mayor Talib Ahmed Bensouda and his team thanked all the people who pledged to support the artiste, and they appeal to Gambians to help in the release of the Young Gambian singer.
