Mayor of Banjul, Rohey Malick Lowe with a high power delegation just arrived in Kisumu in Kenya.
She is preparing for the opening of the REFELA conference and the campaign proper on Tuesday (tomorrow); ahead of the election on Wednesday.
Mayor Lowe, current REFELA Vice President for West Africa is contesting for the position of President in the Wednesday’s election.
Hopes are high that she will sweep the poll, as many powerful countries rally behind Gambia.
Participants at the conference are Mayors, Governors, Ministers, CSOs etc., of subnational and local governments of various countries in Africa.
The Mayor of Banjul was elected REFELA Vice President for West Africa in February, this year.
REFELA is the acronym for the Network of Women Elected officials of subnational and local governments of Africa regroups women members of the political bodies dealing with the governance of the local authorities and governments of Africa. A 15-member executive bureau manages the network representing the South, North, Central, East, and West Africa regions.
