‘Join Hands 2 Safe A Baby’ a local foundation has donated five Blood Bank refrigerators to the Ministry of Health.

The items valued at five hundred and sixty-six thousand, five-hundred and sixty-six dalasi (D566, 566), were presented on Monday to the Ministry through the National Blood Transmission Service.

Receiving the gesture on behalf of the Ministry of Health, the Minister Ahmed Lamin Samateh expressed delight at the moment and thanked the donors for the gesture.

“We are delighted to receive you here today to be part of the Strategies of the ministry of health. We thank you for spending your money with us but not just spending your money with us for providing these live saving materials. Blood fridges are as live saving as any other hospital equipment that we traditionally say are live equipment,” he said.

Saikouba Jarju, the National Assembly member for Bususmbala Constituency urged Gambians to always think positively and bring aid to their country, like Amie.

Abdoulie Jarju a member of the foundation said that since the establishment of the foundation, it has engaged in a series of activities to prevent material deaths in The Gambia.

Mariama Jammeh, programme manager at the National Blood Transmission Service recalled how the foundation helped many Gambians in the previous years, especially women and children.

‘Join Hands 2 Safe A Baby’ is a Blood Bank Project foundation initiated by one Madam Amie Jarjue on the 24th of October 2020. The project is meant to support the national blood transmission service of The Gambia in order to help reduce blood inadequacy in the health facility and also help women and children who need blood to get safe and timely blood transmission.

It previously conducted several blood harvesting sessions in Fajara Barracks, Yundum, Navy Battalion and State Guard Battalion in Banjul which cost D84, 000 Dalasi, according to the foundation.
