Ousainou Darboe, the Secretary General and leader of the United Democratic Party (UDP) has said that only seven suspected cannabis seeds were found in the back seat of his party’s vehicle, according to the information they gathered.
“A search was conducted on the vehicle. The officer in the name of Korta was among people searching and Officer Lamin Banja was also present and the person they took the vehicle from. And when they searched, no drugs were found. I read in the papers they said three wraps but according to our information, not a single wrap was found in the vehicle. When they conducted further search at the back seat they found seven seeds of what is suspected to be cannabis seeds,” Darboe says.
The UDP leader said this during a press conference at his party’s Bureau in Manjai Kunda on Monday.
Prior to this reaction by the UDP, the police have said in a statement that their Patrol Team C of Bundung Division on 17th April 2021, during night patrols apprehended a yellow pickup belonging to the United Democratic Party, and driven by one Yusupha Jambang, who failed to stop for checking resulting in his immediate pursue, and evidence of suspected cannabis were found in the vehicle leading to his arrest.
