The Gambia Ferry Services Management has announced the resumption of operations for the Kunta Kinteh Ferry as of Friday afternoon, May 10th, 2024. This follows a period of significant maintenance work, including the installation of new engines, ensuring the ferry’s readiness for service.
In light of the limited capacity and the imperative to enhance service quality upon its return to service, the Gambia Ferry Service outlined several measures to be implemented in the coming days. These include new operating hours from 6:00 am to 9:00 pm, immediate discontinuation of the Premium Service, a shift to a first-come, first-served basis for ferry usage, maintaining a weight limit of 60 tonnes per truck, and continuing priority crossing for GTSC, Dakar Dem Dik Private buses, and Ambulances.
“New Operating hours will be from 6.00 am to 9.00 pm; The Premium Service is discontinued with immediate effect; The service will be strictly on a first-come, first-served basis; The weight limit is maintained at 60 tonnes per truck; and The priority crossing is still given to GTSC, Dakar Dem Dik, Private buses, and Ambulances.
