Kodou Jeng, President of Women in STEM Gambia, has been honored with the prestigious STEM Woman of the Year award at the Africa Digital Economy event held in Nairobi, Kenya. This award recognizes her exceptional efforts in promoting and empowering women and girls in STEM fields across Africa.

In a Facebook post, Kodou shared her gratitude for the recognition, reflecting on her journey and commitment to uplifting others:

“Last year, I stepped aside from the She Awards Gambia nomination to allow younger girls to shine and take the stage, as it has always been my motivation to see them rise and succeed.

This year, I’m incredibly humbled and grateful to be recognized at a continental level, receiving the #STEM_Woman_of_the_Year award at the 9th Africa Digital Economy Awards 2024in Kenya.

I dedicate this award to my parents, whose sacrifices during my school days motivated me to work harder to ease their burden, and to all the young girls in STEM who dare to dream.”

Her recognition serves as an inspiration to many, highlighting the importance of perseverance and support in the pursuit of excellence in STEM fields.
